Tree hollows are important for many native animals. They are used by birds such as parrots, cockatoos and owls for nesting, as well as by some frogs, reptiles and insects. They provide a degree of protection during bad weather, which is particularly important for young fledglings. For nocturnal animals such as possums and gliders who need somewhere to sleep during the day, tree hollows provide a cosy home in the tree tops!
