The 500-metre elevated walkway takes visitors above the forest to offer views over the valley, from Lake Illawarra to the Pacific Ocean. There is also a panoramic view from the crest of the walkway’s spiralling tower, 45 metres above the forest floor.
Manager Neredith Elliot said it was a big thrill for children once they walked through the door. “Children have a blast when they come to The Illawarra Fly,” Ms Elliott said. “The two cantilevered sections off the main walk can sway in the breeze, and children love the feeling of motion high in the air:’
For early birds, sunrise walks are available every second Saturday of the month, to take in the colours of the south coast at first light. Bookings are essential. Every Friday, mums receive a free coffee and cupcake when they bring the family, and there is also face painting.
On Saturdays families can purchase a ticket for $55 which covers two adults and up to four children.
